MOM’S FAMOUS CREAM PUFFS
Ingredients:
1 cup water
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
4 large eggs
For the filling:
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the topping (optional):
Powdered sugar, for dusting
Melted chocolate, for drizzling
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium saucepan, bring the water and butter to a boil over medium heat.
Reduce the heat to low, add the flour all at once, and stir vigorously until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
Remove the pan from the heat and allow the mixture to cool for 5 minutes.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.
Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry shells are puffed and golden brown. Cool completely on a wire rack.
While the pastry shells cool, prepare the filling. In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
Slice the cooled pastry shells in half horizontally and fill each with a generous spoonful of whipped cream.
Dust the tops with powdered sugar or drizzle with melted chocolate if desired.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
